Margaret Bailey appointed Chair of NHNH Board of Trustees

Long-term care leader brings strong voice for quality, safety, and resident-centred care

(SIMCOE) – Norfolk Hospital Nursing Home (NHNH) is pleased to announce that Margaret Bailey has been appointed Chair of the Board of Trustees. Her two-year term begins immediately.

Margaret brings decades of experience in long-term care and a deep commitment to high-quality care for seniors. She currently serves as the Quality Analyst and Privacy Officer for Caressant Care Nursing and Retirement Homes Ltd., supporting 15 long-term care and 10 retirement homes across Ontario.

She began her career in long-term care at age 18 and has since held senior roles including Executive Director, Director of Operations, and consultant, supporting policy development and accreditation planning for organizations across Canada.

“I am deeply honoured to step into the role of Board Chair for the Norfolk Hospital Nursing Home during this exciting chapter in its journey,” said Margaret. “The organization’s commitment to excellence and resident-centred care is both inspiring and humbling. Our seniors have shaped the fabric of our community, and it is our privilege to honour their legacy with compassion and dedication. I am proud to serve alongside a diverse and passionate Board—each member bringing valuable experience, insight, and a shared commitment to making a meaningful difference.”

Margaret is also an Accreditation Surveyor with CARF International, where she has reviewed long-term care and retirement homes in Canada and internationally. She has helped train new surveyors and contributed to international standards development.

Since joining the NHNH Board in 2022, Margaret has brought a steady voice and strong leadership grounded in experience. Her areas of expertise include infection prevention and control, quality improvement, strategic planning, risk management, and policy development. She holds a Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt and recently completed the Infection Prevention & Control Program at Queen’s University.

“I’m pleased to welcome Margaret to her new role as Chair of the NHNH Board of Trustees,” said Todd Stepanuik, President and CEO. “Her depth of experience in long-term care and her passion for resident-centred quality care come at an important time for our organization. With the launch of NHNH’s 2025–2028 Strategic Plan and the exciting journey toward a new 128-bed facility, Marg’s leadership will help guide our continued focus on excellence, innovation, and resident wellbeing.”

Margaret succeeds Ken Robb, who served as Board Chair from 2022 to 2025.

“I’d also like to thank Ken Robb for his thoughtful leadership and years of service as Board Chair,” Stepanuik added. “Ken played a key role in helping NHNH grow and prepare for the future. We’re grateful for his steady support and contributions to our residents, staff, and community.”
