Norfolk Hospital Nursing Home launches 2025–2028 Strategic Plan
The Norfolk Hospital Nursing Home (NHNH) has officially launched its 2025–2028 Strategic Plan, Enriching Lives with Dignity, Care and Compassion. This plan sets a clear path forward as NHNH works to become the home of choice for residents and the employer of choice for staff, while delivering exceptional care and strengthening community connection.
“Our vision is simple and powerful: to be the home of choice for residents and the employer of choice for staff,” said Margaret Bailey, Chair of the NHNH Board of Directors. “This plan was built with input from the people we serve and those who care for them. It’s a shared vision for what high-quality long-term care can and should be in Norfolk County.”The 2025–2028 Strategic Plan is anchored in NHNH’s new mission: Delivering exceptional care and creating an engaging, safe, and compassionate home where residents thrive and staff shine.
Developed through extensive engagement with staff, physicians, families, partners, and community members, the plan is built on five strategic priorities:
- Exceptional Resident-Centred Care
- Outstanding Team
- Operational Excellence
- Community Partnerships and Connection
- Innovation and Digital Enablement
“Long-term care continues to evolve, and we know the needs of our residents will change in the years ahead,” said Todd Stepanuik, President and CEO of Norfolk Hospital Nursing Home and Norfolk General Hospital. “Our Strategic Plan is grounded in a deep commitment to the people who call NHNH home. It reflects our promise to deliver compassionate, high-quality care in a setting where residents can truly thrive. With the dedication of our staff, the support of our community, and the upcoming redevelopment of our facility, we are well positioned to shape the future of long-term care in Norfolk County.”By 2028, NHNH is committed to achieving a range of measurable goals, including:
- Personalized, inclusive care tailored to resident needs and preferences.
- A supportive, engaged workforce with access to professional development and modern tools.
- Efficient, sustainable operations guided by strong governance and best practices.
- Closer collaboration with community partners, families, and Norfolk General Hospital.
- A culture of innovation supported by secure digital solutions and continuous improvement.
These goals reflect NHNH’s strong focus on people, partnerships, and progress – and its vision for long-term care that meets both present needs and future demands.
Looking ahead, NHNH is also preparing for the construction of a new, state-of-the-art 160-bed long-term care facility. This exciting redevelopment reflects NHNH’s commitment to modern, resident-focused care and to meeting the evolving needs of Norfolk County for generations to come.
The Strategic Plan was developed with extensive public and staff engagement, including surveys, meetings, and discussions with health partners and local organizations. Community members emphasized the importance of quality care, staff support, and connection to the broader community. Their voices are now embedded in the plan’s priorities and actions.
Progress updates will be shared regularly with residents, families, and the broader community through our website at www.nhnh.ca and other communication channels. NHNH is committed to transparency and invites the community to follow along as it works to deliver on the goals outlined in the plan.
