Board Member Recruitment

Norfolk Hospital Nursing Home Seeks New Board Members

Norfolk Hospital Nursing Home (NHNH) is currently recruiting two new members to join its volunteer Board of Directors.

As NHNH marks its 50th anniversary, we are preparing for a transformative next chapter — including the development of a new, state-of-the-art facility designed to meet the evolving needs of our residents and the broader community.

This is a unique opportunity for individuals with a passion for community service, strategic thinking, and good governance to contribute to the future of long-term care. If you are committed to advancing quality care for older adults and are ready to lend your time and expertise, we encourage you to apply.

About the NHNH Board

The NHNH Board of Directors is made up of up to 10 elected volunteers. The Board provides strategic leadership and oversight across all aspects of the organization — including governance, financial performance, risk management, and long-term planning.

Board members play a key role in ensuring that NHNH continues to deliver compassionate, high-quality care while preparing for the opportunities and challenges ahead.

What NHNH is looking for

We’re seeking individuals who:

  • Support the mission and vision of NHNH
  • Believe in advancing care for older adults with dignity and respect
  • Are able to contribute time, energy, and leadership to board and committee work
  • Bring a collaborative, thoughtful approach to decision-making
  • Help strengthen NHNH’s community presence
  • Follow Board policies on ethics, conflict of interest, and confidentiality

While prior board experience is not required, we welcome applicants with backgrounds in business management, financial oversight, law, governance, risk management, or community leadership. We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive Board that reflects the community we serve.

Time Commitment

Board members contribute approximately 710 hours per month, including attendance at board and committee meetings, participation in an annual retreat, and involvement in select community or fundraising events. Meetings are held in person or virtually.

New members will be appointed to a three-year term, with the option for renewal.

How to Apply

To express your interest, please complete the application form and include a cover letter, resume, and references.

Application Deadline: August 22, 2025
